Hi all, I work in consulting and Crime rate is something to consider -Nice sits at 356.9 per 100K. Household incomes average around $70,274 in Nice. It's a a small town city with about 2,517 people. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Let me know your thoughts. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Bought a house here in 2023 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 8 years. Moved from LA for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is solid - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Can feel isolated. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 7 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
