Best and worst neighborhoods in Niceville

OK so Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 0.8%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $96,611, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 16,043, Niceville is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Niceville sits at 69.0 per 100K. Rent is about $1,579/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Close to nature
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
TIA! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Hope this helps!.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 1 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for family and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The cultural scene is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Seattle it's tough.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is average in most areas.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.
