Couple moving to Niceville from out of state

Random thought, I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a small town city with about 16,043 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 6 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in Downtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The food scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
