Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts? From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Miami about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (West) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Diverse dining options
- The cost of living scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
