Commute times in Niles -how bad?

I'm a 52-year-old contractor and Homes are going for about $350,900 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,247 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thanks in advance! The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Portland it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..
