Alright, We're a young couple and Poverty rate is 18.1%, which is higher than I expected. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like sushi.
No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 2 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (The Heights) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
