Anyone regret moving to Nitro?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Springfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from New York about 14 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The school system is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
