Things Nixa needs to improve

Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and Median household income is $80,491, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Worth the trade-offs? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Vietnamese places. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The weather scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The traffic scene is decent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely average and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (North) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
