Best kept secrets of Nixon, TX

Been meaning to ask this. Born and raised here. Poverty rate is 15.8%, which is higher than I expected. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I overthinking this? The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Downtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
