Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 2 years. Moved from Boston for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is average - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Road conditions need improvement. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Dallas it's better than expected.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for weather and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The walkability is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Austin about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 9 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
