I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much competitive but now it's better than expected.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely excellent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Fairview for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The food scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is improving in most areas.
