Honest thoughts on life in Norfolk

I've been here for 6 years and Rent is about $1,246/month for a decent place. Median household income is $64,017, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 62°F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a mid-size city city with about 235K people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2023 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Came here for weather and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The healthcare is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
