Median home value here is around $271,900. Prices are reasonable compared to major metros. For those renting, typical rent is $1246.
Is now a good time to buy in Norfolk? Or better to keep renting?

Rent tip: look for places in fall. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Westside and Midtown are perfectly safe.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Maple Heights and Old Town are perfectly safe.
