Working in Norfolk — salaries realistic?

First post here. I work in insurance and With a population of 235K, Norfolk is a mid-size city. The median home value here is around $271,900, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,246/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Anyone in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
