Most overrated things about Normal

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $974/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thoughts? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to.

I'm a data analyst and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..
