Hey everyone, I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Normal sits at 276.3 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Any advice would be great.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 5 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..
