Moving from San Diego to Norman next month

Hey, Poverty rate is 8.4%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $65,060 in Norman. Crime rate is something to consider — Norman sits at 267.8 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is improving in most areas.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 4 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into running, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
