Normandy Park is underrated, change my mind

First post here. Been living here since 2022. Median household income is $144,821, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $943,500 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from New York about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in legal here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is better than expected. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Baltimore it's better than expected.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like seafood.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
