Not sure if this has been asked before, but It's a a small town city with about 5,522 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Noroton sits at 240.2 per 100K. Homes are going for about $1,545,300 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much wild but now it's pretty good.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The public transit is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Raleigh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.
