Commute times in Norridge -how bad?
Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. With a population of 15,177, Norridge is a small town.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 9 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
