Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and The median home value here is around $205,100, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $65,058 in Norristown. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Phoenix about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
