Best restaurants in North Amityville?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm originally from Cleveland and Household incomes average around $125,991 in North Amityville. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -North Amityville sits at 119.0 per 100K. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What neighborhoods would you suggest? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 8 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from LA about 14 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

Came here for weather and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The food scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Riverside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..
