Relocating to North Arlington, NJ -pros and cons?

You can expect to pay around $1,706 for rent here. With a population of 16,368, North Arlington is a small town. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Has anyone dealt with this? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 13 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Portland about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Uptown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Diverse dining options
- The safety scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much growing but now it's surprisingly good.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.
