Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. With a population of 18,375, North Aurora is a small town. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -North Aurora sits at 141.9 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Let me know your thoughts. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I work in construction here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is underrated. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Chicago about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Sunset for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The healthcare scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
