Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 51, moved here 8 years ago from Houston. I've lived in West and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The healthcare situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 12 years. Moved from Phoenix for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Not very walkable outside downtown. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The weather is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 9 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Uptown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- The outdoor recreation scene is decent

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..
