The good and bad of living in North Bay Shore

OK so I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $449,900 on average. Household incomes average around $117,893 in North Bay Shore. Median household income is $117,893, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,664/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've lived in Fairview for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The safety scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is underrated in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
