Hey, Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $2,930 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -North Bellport sits at 22.0 per 100K. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Miami about 6 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Oak Park area are decent. Kids love it here.

I work in consulting here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
