Cost of living reality check -North Bend

Longtime lurker here, I've been here for 5 years and Crime rate is something to consider -North Bend sits at 68.4 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for North Bend? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in West for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The walkability scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 14 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a nurse and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
