As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much established but now it's challenging.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Sunset for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Salt Lake City it's solid.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The dating scene is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
