Anyone work in healthcare in North Charleston?

I'm retired and Homes are going for about $267,700 on average. The median home value here is around $267,700, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 11.5%, which is around average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Boston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
