It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:

- Low taxes
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Lack of diversity
- Homelessness issues downtown
Am I wrong here? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 7 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 11 years. Moved from Miami for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is solid - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Bugs and humidity in summer. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
