Is public transit usable in North Charleston?

Hello, Born and raised here. It's a a mid-size city city with about 117K people. Household incomes average around $62,789 in North Charleston. Rent is about $1,364/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
