Job market in North Charleston for tech?

Hey everyone, Been living here since 2015. The median home value here is around $267,700, which seems about average. It's a a mid-size city city with about 117K people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely solid and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from New York about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..
