Just moved to North Charleston, any tips?

I work in finance and Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,364 for rent here. Median household income is $62,789, which feels about average for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Nashville about 7 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I work in manufacturing here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is excellent. No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Lakewood area are tough. Kids love it here.
