Rent prices in North Charleston getting crazy

Anyone else noticing rent going up fast in North Charleston? Over the last year, I feel like prices went up at least 10-15%. I'm paying $1364 for a studio which feels okay for the area.

Are there any neighborhoods that are still affordable? Thinking about moving to a cheaper area.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 12 years and my experience is very similar.

The job market has been improving lately. Several education companies moved in recently.

If you can afford it, Oakwood is the best place to live. Period.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Respectfully disagree about the safety concerns. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

I've lived in Lakewood for 11 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.
