Anyone else love living in North Chicago?

Hey folks, The median home value here is around $147,800, which is actually reasonable. It's a a smaller city city with about 30,772 people. Median household income is $56,815, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,392/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown
- Plenty of shopping options
- Active local events

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited nightlife
- Limited dining options
Am I overthinking this? The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- The school system scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..
