Top 5 things I love about North Fort Lewis

Poverty rate is 9.4%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 5,990 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Thanks in advance! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in tech. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

No regrets on my end..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The cost of living is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
