Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $153,500, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $75,257 in North Gates. Median household income is $75,257, which feels about average for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Should I be concerned? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The walkability is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- The weather scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
