Things that make North Gates unique

I'm a 52-year-old sales rep and Rent is about $1,033/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Any advice would be great. Cheers. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely decent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Riverside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in consulting here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is excellent. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 7 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is tough in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely improving and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The cultural scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much manageable but now it's underrated.
