I'm originally from Albuquerque and Rent is about $1,033/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -North Gates sits at 839.1 per 100K. Median household income is $75,257, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,033 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What do you all think? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Houston it's tough.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- The healthcare scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
