North Lakes is underrated, change my mind

My family moved here when I was a kid. Median household income is $102,785, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,459 for rent here. With a population of 10,583, North Lakes is a small town. Average temperature is around 37--F, so bundle up in winter. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 52, moved here 10 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Downtown and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The pet-friendliness situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for retirees. improving vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
