How safe is North Las Vegas really?

I've been looking at the stats and North Las Vegas shows a violent crime rate of 864 per 100K which is above average. But stats don't always tell the full story. For people who actually live there — do you feel safe? Are there areas to avoid?

I'm especially interested in hearing from retirees.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

My kids love it here. So many parks and activities. Great value for the money.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 6/10.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Oakwood and Midtown are perfectly safe.

Check out the Highland Park area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!

Rent tip: look for places in fall. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Midtown and Maple Heights are perfectly safe.
