Most overrated things about North Las Vegas

Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider — North Las Vegas sits at 863.7 per 100K. Poverty rate is 9.9%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $76,772, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,605 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Not very walkable
- High property taxes
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
What neighborhoods would you suggest? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great BBQ places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely pretty good and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much affordable but now it's better than expected.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.
