What surprised you most about North Lauderdale?

Just moved here 6 months ago and Poverty rate is 13.2%, which is around average. Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Chicago about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much established but now it's challenging.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The school system is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is tough in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
