The median home value here is around $244,400, which is actually reasonable. Am I wrong here? Thanks for reading.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in tech here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
