I'm originally from Cincinnati and The median home value here is around $169,500, which is actually reasonable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Boston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

- Affordable housing options

- Dating scene is rough
