Freelancing from North Little Rock -experience?

Hey folks, I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -North Little Rock sits at 843.8 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I overthinking this?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from San Francisco about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 15 years. Moved from Denver for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
- The outdoor recreation scene is average

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
