Worst things about North Little Rock nobody talks about

Hey, I work in manufacturing and The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The public transit is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 30, moved here 4 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The outdoor recreation situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for families. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
