Cost of living reality check -North Lynnwood

Hey folks, I'm single, late 50s, and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -North Lynnwood sits at 273.0 per 100K. Poverty rate is 6.2%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Should I be concerned? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 53, moved here 7 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Eastside and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The public transit situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. tough vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
