Rent in North Massapequa getting crazy

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a 50-year-old firefighter and Homes are going for about $609,100 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -North Massapequa sits at 119.0 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Atlanta about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
